Have you heard of “Glass Skin” yet?

The new Korean beauty trend that’s all over the internet.

Every so often a new beauty trend seems to take over the web. From glitter lips to contouring… and who could forget that infamous Kylie Jenner “big lip challenge”? This new beauty trend hails from Korea and is known as “Glass Skin” or “Glassing.” In simple terms, its skin that looks incredibly smooth, pore free and gives a luminous glow from the inside – WITHOUT wearing ANY makeup.

To achieve the holy-grail of skincare, you must first remember to take off your makeup every night (Yes, we know it’s sometimes a chore but it’s so worth it in the long run!) by using micellar water or makeup wipes. After your face appears to be squeaky clean, you’re going to need to wash with a cleanser, something that wont dry out your skin. Look for words such as Moisturising or Non-Drying as these will make sure you remove every spec of makeup without damaging your skin.

The next step is to tone your face. There is a misconception about toning, old tales about how using a toner will dry out and completely dehydrate your skin. Toning, in fact, is a perfect way to nourish the skin and works perfectly after a double cleanse to add hydration. After toning, you will want to make sure that you add a moisturiser to lock in the benefits of the cleanse and clarifying.

Every other day, after cleansing, feel free to exfoliate with a gentle scrub. Exfoliators containing sugar and strawberries are very effective in creating a luminous, natural glow. Sheet masks are also great options, and another K-Beauty trend. Apply a sheet mask once a week to tighten your skin and prevent premature skin ageing.

Also, if you want to cheat “Glass Skin,” we’ve got you covered! Start by applying a pore minimising primer before using your chosen foundation, this will ensure a perfect base and will help the foundation glide on much smoother. Choose a foundation that will give you a light weight, dewy look. You want to steer away from any foundations that provide high coverage as they have the tendency to detract light, which can make your skin look very flat. Apply a strobing cream to all the high points on your face; nose, cheekbones, chin and the centre of the forehead. Steer clear from contouring and instead opt for a blush shade that appears natural to your skin colour, apply this to the high points of your cheeks for a rosy glow. Finish with a makeup setting spray, rose water sprays are very hydrating and will keep your makeup glowing all day long.

That’s it! Simple, right? The steps to creating “Glass Skin” are probably not too different to your current beauty regime but it’s making sure you are doing the steps in the correct order. If you don’t want to change up your current beauty routine, fake it until you make it!
