This summer, children have the chance to become a Wetland Explorer at London Wetland Centre! From Saturday 20th July to Sunday 1st September, there will be loads of exciting wetland challenges to embark upon, including pond dipping, wild painting and raft building. Head to WWT London Wetland HQ where you can pick up a FREE trail map and set off into the wild to get wet and muddy and learn explorer skills through wild play challenges and the NEW ‘Swamp Survival Squad’. It’s going to be a fun day out for the whole family!
When all visitors have gone and dusk starts to fall over the reserve, London Wetland Centre transforms into a truly captivating place. Families are invited to experience the magic of the Centre after-hours with WWT London Children’s Night Safaris from Friday 2nd to Friday 30th August (Friday’s only). Their team will take you on a night adventure, building dens, listening to and looking for nocturnal wildlife, and sharing stories around a roaring campfire. Suitable for children over 7 years.
Alternatively, learn about one of the Centre’s less well-known mammals during one of our evening Bat Walks on Thursday 22nd and Thursday 29th August. These walks give you the opportunity not only to learn more about these incredible animals during a talk by WWT bat expert but also to see them in action. As bat calls are largely undetectable to the human ear, bat detectors are provided to help you identify the species hunting overhead. Suitable for adults and children over 8 years.
