How to add more healthy fats to your diet
We all know that if we eat fatty foods these should be of the healthy variety as
we do need some fat in our diets. With this in mind here’s some ways to add
healthy fats into your diet
Eat omega 3 fatty foods daily such as fish, walnuts, ground flax seeds,
flaxseed oil, canola oil and soya oil.
Use olive oil for cooking instead butter, magazine or lard.Eat more avocados e.g. in sandwiches, salads or homemade guacamole
Eat more nuts – e.g add them to vegetable dishes such as stir fries or use
them instead of breadcrumbs on chicken or fish, create your own mix of nuts,
seeds and dried fruit.
Snack on Olives
Reduce the amount of saturated fats that you eat e.g. switching from red meat
to chicken or fish, opting for skimmed or semi skimmed milk instead of whole
Cut down or even eliminate trans fats in your diet by checking the food labels
on the items you buy
Make your own healthy salad dressing using olive, flaxseed or sesame oils for
examples instead of buying ready made salad dressings from the supermarket.
